This piece was exhibited as a participatory installation at the Root Division Gallery. Two 6’ x 8’ drawing pads were mounted on opposite walls of the gallery along with a box of oil pastels. Participants were given the following instructions:
Sit against the pad of paper with your legs forming a 90-degree angle.
Sit up straight and face forward (don't look back at the paper).
You will feel a burning sensation in your quadriceps that will gradually increase in intensity.
In your pair, choose who will lead and who will follow. One person draws, moving his/her markers freely, exploring the range of motion of his/her hands and arms, experimenting with different types of movement.
The second person mirrors the first.
Draw for as long as possible.
Carefully tear off your drawings along the perforation and take them with you.
